Community Forum Projects
The Midhurst Community Hub continues to play a vital role in bringing people together to address the issues that matter most locally. At the heart of this work is the Midhurst Community Forum—now in its sixth year—which provides a space for organisations across the public and voluntary sectors to collaborate, share insight, and develop practical solutions for the community. Run entirely by volunteers, the Hub acts as a facilitator and enabler, helping to turn shared concerns into collective action.
At the most recent Forum, over 50 participants from a wide range of local organisations came together to focus on two key priorities: supporting older people, and improving outcomes for children and families. Rather than simply revisiting well-known challenges, the Forum centred on identifying tangible, community-led actions.
From these discussions, two important community projects have emerged.
Issues affecting Older People in the Midhurst area
This project focuses on improving the support available to older people across the Midhurst area. While a wide range of services and guidance already exists, much of it is not widely known or easily accessible. The aim is to bridge this gap by making information on wellbeing, care, and later-life planning clearer, more visible, and available in both digital and printed formats.
Alongside improving access to information, the project seeks to strengthen local networks and build closer collaboration between organisations already working in this space. By raising awareness of available support and ensuring it reaches people in ways that suit their needs, the initiative aims to help older residents live safely, independently, and with greater confidence.
Issues affecting Children and Families in the Midhurst area
This project responds to the challenges facing children and families across the Midhurst and Rother Valley area, particularly the lack of a central, accessible hub for early support. While services exist, they are often dispersed, making it harder for families to access consistent, joined-up help when they need it.
The initiative focuses on developing inclusive, community-based sessions that provide a welcoming and neutral space for parents and carers. Here, families can connect with one another, share experiences, and engage with key professionals in a supportive environment.
By bringing together the strengths of local schools, health services, and voluntary organisations, the project aims to create a more coordinated and accessible network of support—helping families feel better connected, informed, and equipped to support their children’s development and wellbeing.
Together, these projects reflect a shared commitment to building a more connected, resilient community—one where people of all ages can access the support they need and feel part of something stronger.
